French Film Evening

Saturday 7 December 2024, 7.30pm at Foxton Village Hall

Thank you to everyone who attended our French film evening. This time we moved away from a comedy and showed the uplifting, award-winning film from 2008, ‘Il y a longtemps que je t’aime’ (English title ‘I’ve loved you so long’), starring Dame Kristin Scott Thomas:

Juliette Fontaine (Kristin Scott Thomas) was in prison for fifteen years. Confronted with the unexpected goodness of her younger sister Lea (Elsa Zylberstein), who make Juliette a part of her family, Juliette’s ice and bitterness very slowly break down and she carefully opens up.

The film won 15 international awards, including the 2009 BAFTA for Best Film not in the English Language.

All profits from the evening will go to Foxton Twinning Association to pay for our next visit from our friends in Montigny, our twin village in Normandy.
