After two postponements due to Covid we were delighted to welcome back to Foxton our friends from Montigny once again. Seventeen Montignais visited over the weekend of the 7th and 8th of May. Alas, the school term in France did not coincide quite so well with the dates this year but we were pleased to see so many old friends.
Following a welcome reception on Friday evening our guests returned with their hosts for an evening meal and to catch up on all the news. On Saturday we had a guided tour of Ely cathedral with a French-speaking guide for our visitors. Lunch in Ely followed with individually arranged visits to Cromwell’s House and Anglesey Abbey etc. en route back to Foxton. A grand safari supper on Saturday evening around the village and ending up with “puddings” at the village hall rounded off a perfect day.
Sunday was the usual relaxing day with pub lunches and visits to Cambridge and elsewhere in the locality.
The return visit to Normandy will be next year (with many individual mini-visits in between as usual no doubt!).
We are always pleased to hear from any villagers who would like to join in with the twinning activity. It’s a great way to make new friends, see a beautiful part of Normandy and, in particular, stay in the beautiful, forest-enclosed village of Montigny.
